Overview

Two mountain bikers are biking along the ridge with the view of the Annapurna mountain range near Sarangkot.

This is Pokhara's ultimate multi-adventure day: sunrise, mountain biking, and whitewater rafting in one guided trip. You start before dawn at the famous Sarangkot viewpoint, ride down through hillside villages to the river, and finish by rafting the rapids of the Upper Seti.

The day begins with a private jeep up to Sarangkot for the sunrise, one of Nepal's finest, with Annapurna I (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), and Machhapuchhre, the Fishtail (6,993 m), lighting up above the Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake. After breakfast at the viewpoint, you get on the bike for a 15 to 25 km ride, mostly downhill, through authentic villages to the river.

At the river, a professional rafting guide and safety kayaker take over for about 1.5 hours of whitewater on the Upper Seti, a glacier-fed river from Mardi Himal and Annapurna, through gorges and rapids. It is a full day of Himalayan views, real trail riding, and adrenaline, guided from start to finish. Your guide matches the bike route and pace to your ability, so it suits all levels.

The Day: Sunrise, Bike and Raft

  1. Sunrise and breakfast at Sarangkot. A private jeep carries you up to the Sarangkot viewpoint before dawn to watch the first light spread across the Annapurna range, one of Nepal's finest sunrises, with the peaks glowing above the Pokhara valley and Phewa Lake below. You then have breakfast at the viewpoint with organic coffee, in the shadow of Annapurna and Fishtail. Bring your camera.

  2. Mountain bike ride to the river. From Sarangkot you ride 15 to 25 km, mostly flat and downhill, and we can climb to Dhampus if time allows or the riders have a high level of fitness and endurance, through authentic villages such as Naudanda, Kaskikot, and Dhampus, passing the historic king's palace at Kaskikot, on a mix of cross-country and downhill trails. Your guide matches the route and pace to your ability, so it works for all levels.

  3. Rafting the Upper Seti. At the river, your professional rafting guide and safety kayaker brief you before about 1.5 hours of whitewater on the Upper Seti, a glacier-fed river from Mardi Himal and Annapurna, through gorges and rapids. It is the adrenaline-fueled finish to the day.
