Overview

Potala Palace in Tibet captured in a frame during Lhasa to Kathmandu mountain bike tour.

This Lhasa to Kathmandu Mountain Biking Tour-Team Australia is a guided cycling and mountain biking tour which follows the classic route across the Tibetan Plateau and into Nepal via Gyantse, Shigatse, Tingri, the Everest Base Camp region, and the Gyirong border. You’ll ride at high altitude for most of the trip, often above 3,500 m, with several passes over 5,000 m.

The adventure begins in Kathmandu, where we arrange permits and logistics before flying to Lhasa. After acclimatization and sightseeing, the cycling starts through wide valleys, sacred lakes, monasteries, nomadic areas, and remote mountain roads. we ’ll camp in high-altitude valleys and stay in simple guest houses and small hotels where available.

we have curated this tour for experienced cyclists and mountain bikers who are comfortable riding long distances in thin air. You’ll have WFR MTB-certified guides, support vehicles, cooks, and mechanics. If needed, you can use vehicle support on difficult days.
If you prefer lower altitude routes, more comfort, or shorter riding days, you may prefer tours in Pokhara, Lower Mustang, Annapurna Circuit, Bhutan, or Ladakh.
