FAQ

This Lower Mustang trip can be done all year round. However, the best time to visit this Himalayan region is March to June and September to November.

The highest elevation in Lower Mustang's mountain biking trip leads you to 4200m in Champarbhu, but you will be staying the night at the maximum of 3810m at Muktinath.

There are many attractions in Lower Mustang. The popular and must-visit sites are the Kag chode monastery of Kagbeni which is more than 580 years old, the Muktinath temple, Lupra pass, and the Dhumba lake of Thini village.

The Lupra pass single track is not that hard as most of the trail is fast flowy. However, you have to be confident to ride steep descends with loose gravels and you should have some skills to ride red trails as the end of the trail is a bit technical.

A proper mountain bike with trustable components, protective gears such as helmet, gloves, mtb glass, durable and reliable clothing according to season, a camel bag or water bottle, spare tubes, pump, brake pads, and a muti-tool are required for mountain biking in Mustang. These are just some basic equipment as a reference to help you figure out the idea. Make sure all the equipment are in proper working condition before packing.

A real mountain bike with a least wider tires and reliable components is needed to tackle the rugged and steeper trails of Mustang. The selection of a mountain bike (Hardtail or Dual Suspension) depends upon your riding style and preference. However, for an incredible mountain biking experience in the Himalayas of Mustang a dual suspension mountain bike with travel 140mm or higher is highly recommended.

You should be in decent fitness level for mountain biking in Nepal's Lower Mustang.
