Along with all of our epic Mountain Biking, Nepal has so much more to offer the adventurous traveller. So here at Pokhara Mountain Bike we have put together this very special itineracy that, whilst taking in some of the best mountain biking the country has to offer, also shows off the ‘best of the rest’. We’ll go sightseeing in Kathmandu, paragliding in Pokhara, multi-day white water rafting back from the Lower Mustang Valley and jungle safariing in Chitwan National Park.
On top of all of this we’ll take you riding on the best trails in the Pokhara Valley and fly up with our bikes to Jomsom in the Lower Mustang Valley. This has got to be one of the best uplifts of any mountain bike ride in the world! We’ll deliver you straight up into the high mountains at the edge of the Tibetan Plateau.
Then we’ll we use our local Nepali knowledge of the region alongside our love of the trails and experience of what makes a great bike ride to find the best way down for you, not only showing off the culture and the landscape but also some of the best trails Nepal has to offer!
As mountain bikers we’re out to have fun & we understand the importance of not just following the simplest route so we’ll put in the extra effort to seek out the best trails that we know will leave you grinning from ear to ear!
Remember, this is only an example itinerary. There’s so many options of what can be done we can be totally flexible for your needs.
This is also the perfect trip for couples where one is a Mountain Biker and the other is not so much. Contact us for non-riders itinerary options & prices.
Arrive in Kathmandu Airport, welcomed by the group leader and transfer to relax at the Hotel.
Make the most of Nepal’s ancient capitol with some sight seeing.
Today we drive to Chetwan National Park in a private van.
We’ll be treated to a cultural show of ancient, traditional Nepali dance in the evening
Chetwan - Jungle safari
Get out your Indianna Jones outfit! We’re going on safari in the stunning Chetwan National Park. You can expect to see wild elephant, Rhino, Deer and even possibly a Tiger. A wildlife experience you’ll never forget!
In the evening private transport will transfer us to Pokhara
Riding in the Pokhara Valley
Come and play in our back yard!
These are our trails & we can put together a program of whatever you feel like. Maybe an epic day’s XC ride round the valley (of around 80kms!), an uplift downhill session on our local hills or just a relaxed ride along the lakeshore. We’ll show you the best Pokhara has to offer!
The experience of a lifetime! Jump off Sarangkot, the famous Annapurna Range view point, in tandem with one of the town’s best pilots. Words can’t really describe the feeling of soaring amongst the highest mountains in the world. Pokhara, rightly so, has the reputation as one of the world’s very top spots for paragliding.
An experience not to be missed!
Jomsom (2730m) to Kagbeni (2800m)
Distance: 12 Km
A spectacular early morning flight to Jomsom & the start of our big Mustang Adventure… First, a short ride to Kagbeni; taking it easy to acclimatise to altitude and appreciate the awesome mountain scenery.
Kagbeni (2800m) to Muktinath (3800m)
Distance: 20 Km
We recommend waking up early to enjoy the spectacular sunrise and get some photos that you wouldn’t believe! Today we will be biking mostly uphill to Muktinath on jeep track. We will have lunch at Jharkot exploring afterwards some of the monasteries and local culture. Eventually the effort will be worth it as we reach the holy pilgrimage site of Muktinath at the base of the Thorung La Pass.
Muktinath (3750m) to Marpha (2650m)
Distance: 45 km
We’ll be dropping over 1000m of altitude on dusty trails in this amazing environment of towering mountains and bright blue skies. Now you get to feel the well earned wind on your face after all the effort of the climb. It’ll leave you grinning from ear to ear!
Marpha (2670m) to Tatopani (1250m)
We’ll wake up early after a good sleep (as you come down from high altitude most people sleep better at night) and have the chance to explore some of the charming village of Marpha. After a good breakfast we’ll get started on our journey toward a more subtropical region along the Kaligandaki River. It’s downhill all the way with lush, green scenery and more oxygen in your lungs, what a great feeling! We’ll reach Tatopani (meaning ‘hot spring’ in Nepali) which is a famous place among locals for treating skin ailments (& not bad for tired legs too!).
Tatopani (1250m) - Beni - Rafting Kali River
Distance: 24 km until Beni
We’ll take the fast, enjoyable jeep trail down to reach the start of the paved road at Beni Bazaar (market town) where our van or bus will be waiting for us to take our bikes back to Pokhara whilst we go down to the The Kali River and switch to rafts. We’ll hit the water and spend the evening camped at the side of the river.
Rafting Kali River
A full day’s getting wet & wild rafting down the Kali River. At the end of the day we’ll camp again on the shore side.
Finish rafting and transfer back to Pokhara.
We’ll get off the river at Seti Beni where our transport will be waiting to transfer us back to Pokhara.
Then to a well deserved night enjoying & celebrating a great trip on Pokhara’s beautiful lake side.
